Blackheads and visible pores
Pore size is largely set by genetics, but pores look smaller when they are clean and the skin is smooth. Thorough cleansing and a gentle exfoliant do most of the work; no product can close a pore for good.

How to choose
Double cleansing loosens build-up
In the evening, start with a cleansing oil or balm to dissolve sunscreen, makeup and excess sebum, then follow with a mild water-based cleanser. Massaging the oil over your nose and chin for a minute helps loosen hardened sebum.
BHA works inside the pore
Salicylic acid dissolves in oil and can reach into the pore. Start two or three evenings a week and build up only if your skin stays comfortable. AHAs such as glycolic acid mainly smooth the skin surface.
Blackheads or sebaceous filaments?
The grey dots on many noses are usually sebaceous filaments: a normal part of the skin that refills within weeks. They become less visible with regular care but do not disappear for good. Real blackheads are larger, darker plugs.
Frequently asked questions
Do pore strips help?
They pull out the top of the plug for a moment, but can irritate the skin and the pore soon fills again. Regular oil cleansing and BHA give a steadier result.
Can I use BHA and AHA together?
You can, but start with one product. Combining exfoliants increases the risk of redness and peeling. Alternate evenings if you want to use both.
Do I need sunscreen when I exfoliate?
Yes. Acids can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so use sunscreen every day.
