Cleansing is where an Asian routine begins. An oil or balm dissolves sunscreen and makeup; a gentle gel or foam then cleans the skin itself. Find both steps here.

How to choose
Oil and balm: the first cleanse
Massage a cleansing oil or balm onto dry skin, add a little water until it turns milky, then rinse. It loosens sunscreen, makeup and excess sebum without scrubbing.
Gel and foam: the second cleanse
A water-based cleanser removes what is left. Choose a mild, low-foaming gel for dry or sensitive skin; oily skin often likes a slightly fresher foam.
Do you always need two steps?
In the evening after sunscreen or makeup, double cleansing is practical. In the morning one gentle cleanser, or just water, is usually enough.
Frequently asked questions
Is cleansing oil suitable for oily skin?
Yes. Cleansing oils are designed to emulsify and rinse away, and are popular with oily skin precisely because they dissolve sebum and sunscreen well.
What does low pH mean on a cleanser?
A low-pH cleanser is formulated closer to the skin’s naturally slightly acidic surface, which many people find feels less tight after washing.
How long should I cleanse?
About thirty to sixty seconds of gentle massage is enough. Rinse with lukewarm rather than hot water.
